As she sat in her tiny apartment, surrounded by unfamiliar sights and sounds, Rohan couldn’t help but feel a pang of loneliness. She had always been independent, but being away from her mother for the first time was proving to be a challenge.
She missed her mom’s warm hugs, her gentle voice, and the way she would tuck her hair behind her ear when she was studying. Rohan’s eyes wandered to the photo on her desk, a picture of her and her mom taken just before she left India.
Tears prelled up in her eyes as she remembered the promise she made to her mom – to call every day, no matter what. She picked up her phone and dialed her mom’s number, her heart skipping a beat as she heard the familiar voice on the other end.
“Mom…” she whispered, trying to hold back tears.
“Hey, beta! How’s everything? How was your day?” her mom asked, concern etched in her voice.
Rohan poured out her heart, sharing every little thing about her day, and her mom listened patiently, offering words of encouragement and advice.
As they talked, Rohan felt a sense of comfort wash over her. She knew she wasn’t alone, that her mom was just a phone call away.
After they hung up, Rohan felt a renewed sense of determination. She settled back into her studies, her mom’s words echoing in her mind – “You can do this, Rohan. You’re strong and capable.”
The distance may be far, but her mom’s love was always with her, bridging the gap between them
